The Somerset is a solid pine bed frame finished in a warm rustic wax that brings natural character to any bedroom. It is built in the classic Shaker style with a slatted headboard and a matching high footboard, giving it a strong, traditional presence that works just as well in a kids room as it does in a main bedroom or a guest room.
Both the headboard and footboard stand tall, 94 cm and 72 cm respectively, which gives the bed a well proportioned look from any angle. The vertical slatted design on both ends keeps things from feeling heavy while still giving the frame real visual weight. The wax finish brings out the natural grain of the pine and gives the whole frame a warm, lived-in tone that sits well with most bedroom colours and furniture styles.
Underneath, kiln dried solid pine slats support the mattress evenly across the full surface. Kiln drying removes moisture from the wood before it is used, which means the slats are less likely to warp, creak, or lose their shape over time. The 27 cm clearance underneath the bed is generous enough to fit underbed storage drawers, which are available separately.
The 4ft Small Double, 4ft6 Double, and 5ft King sizes all include a centre support beam running from head to foot with a centre leg for added stability under heavier loads. All sizes arrive flat packed with all fixings included and a 4mm hex wrench. Assembly requires two people and standard tools.
