The Shanghai is a solid pine bed frame with a painted white finish and a distinctive grey top plinth on both the headboard and footboard. It is one of those beds that looks more considered than its price suggests. The two-tone finish gives it a cottage feel that works well in kids rooms, teens rooms, spare rooms, and any bedroom that needs something clean and classic without being plain.
The headboard stands 82 cm tall with a slatted vertical design that keeps the look light and open. The grey plinth runs along the top rail and adds a subtle contrast that stops the whole frame from looking flat. The footboard sits at 62 cm, tall enough to give the bed a proper framed look from the foot of the room without making the space feel boxed in. Both ends share the same slatted design so the whole frame reads as one piece rather than a mix of parts.
Underneath, solid pine slats run across the full width of the frame with a 10 cm gap between each one. This spacing allows air to circulate freely under the mattress, which helps keep it fresh and extends its life. The 20 cm underbed clearance gives you enough room to slide standard underbed storage drawers underneath, which are available separately on the site.
The 4ft Small Double, 4ft6 Double, and 5ft King sizes include a centre support beam running from head to foot with a centre leg for added stability on the wider frames. All sizes arrive flat packed with all fixings included. Assembly is required and two people are recommended. Mattress is not included.
