The Mission storage bed in waxed pine is one of the most practical beds you can put in a bedroom. It looks like a solid, well made pine bed frame and it is, but it also comes with six deep drawers built into the base that give you a serious amount of hidden storage without taking up a single extra centimetre of floor space.
The frame is built from pine with a warm waxed finish that brings out the natural grain and gives the whole bed a traditional Shaker character. The headboard stands 80 cm tall with a classic slatted design that keeps the look open and clean. The footboard sits low at 47 cm, which stops the bed from feeling heavy in the room and makes it easier to make the bed without reaching over a tall end panel. The footboard panels are grooved plywood set within a pine frame, which is how the manufacturer keeps the weight and cost down without affecting the overall look.
The six drawers sit three on each side of the bed, running the full depth underneath the frame. Each drawer measures 44 cm deep and 51.5 cm wide with a clearance height of 14 cm, which is enough for folded clothes, bedding, pillows, and anything else that tends to clutter up a bedroom. The drawer handles are designed to face inward rather than outward, so there is no risk of catching your legs on them when you get in and out of bed.
Underneath the mattress, solid pine slats provide firm and even support across the full width of the frame. The slatted base allows air to circulate under the mattress, which helps it stay fresh and last longer. The bed is compatible with all standard mattress types.
Both sizes arrive flat packed in 2 boxes and require assembly. All fixings are included. Mattress is not included.
