The headboard stands 90 cm tall with a row of hand-turned spindles running between two horizontal rails and capped with round ball finials at each corner. The footboard matches the headboard in style and sits at 48 cm, which gives the bed a properly finished look from the foot of the room without closing off the space. The four corner legs have the same turned profile as the spindles, which ties the whole frame together as one piece rather than a mix of separate parts.
Underneath the mattress, kiln dried solid pine slats provide firm and even support across the full width of the frame. Kiln drying removes moisture from the wood before it is shaped, which means the slats are less likely to warp or creak over time. The 27 cm underbed clearance gives you space to use underbed storage drawers or boxes beneath the frame. The 4ft Small Double, 4ft6 Double, and 5ft King sizes include a centre support beam running from head to foot with a centre leg for additional stability on the wider frames.
The Colonial Spindle is available in five sizes. A 3ft Single can be paired with the optional trundle bed that tucks underneath, adding a second sleeping surface for sleepovers or guests. Underbed drawers are available separately and fit underneath any size in the range. The bed arrives flat packed in 2 boxes with all fixings included. Assembly is required. Mattress is not included.
